Indic Callifest

Event Branding and Art direction

An Event Branding project for a museum exhibition and workshop. The “Indic Callifest” is a calling to attention bilingual poster series, designed using the Latin and the Devanagari scripts (one of the oldest Indian scripts), to announce an event encompassing exhibitions of various Indian artists and calligraphy demonstrations and workshops.

Branding for Event

The title is “Indic Callifest” which is a formation of two words “Indian + Calligraphy festival”. As the name goes, this event is a festival, a celebration of Indian scripts, and an introduction to all kinds of different tools used in calligraphy.

Series of Posters

This poster series aims to highlight the beauty of Indian scripts, the diversity in languages, and the beauty of calligraphy through this event. All the calligraphy done to showcase the different Indian scripts are hand-drawn with the traditional tools, and then each composition has been photographed and edited according to the different layouts.

Poster applications at MODA

The concept was built for MODA, the Museum of Design Atlanta. The purpose was to create a highly artistic and modernized yet aesthetic poster series that pays homage to the diversity of Indian scripts. In addition, bring forth the knowledge and impact of calligraphic technique to the audience and demonstrate how graphic designing could gain from the use of western aesthetics when merged with eastern techniques and scripts.

Outdoor Poster Application

Outdoor applications add a great value of call for action, so I decided to use the SCAD outside – entrance where most people can notice such the events/exhibitions happening at MODA. Even the places related to public transportation are added to the design to give information to the maximum number of people.

Social Media: Instagram posts

Digital marketing of the event on Instagram is a great source for people to know about this event. So I designed some interesting social media posts which can be used as a call for action on MODA’s social media page so that audience gets information.

Package Design

These tools are also available for the audience to purchase at MODA. Packaging for these tools was designed to give people a take–away at the museum.

Promotional Items

Along with the set of traditional calligraphy tools, there is also the ink and the calligraphy tools pouch as another take–away item for calligraphy lovers.

Information Booklet

How to use these tools and also the details about the Devanagari script and how this calligraphy is done is completely featured in this information manual as another take–away item for the audience.
